Older 1922 "MEGOLA SPORT"

This lovely piece of rolling sculpture is the Megola sport, and it became built in Germany in 1922. Other than the exceptional styling, the maximum first-rate component approximately this device is that the engine sits through the front wheel.

It’s a 5-cylinder, 640cc radial—which turned into reportedly effective sufficient for top speeds of among 85 and one hundred forty kph (88mph), depending on model and yr. The engine had fantastic torque, which intended that gears were now not required. It didn’t have a snatch, both: to start the bike, you put it on its stand and spun the front wheel until the engine fired up.

‘Megola’ is a portmanteau emblem call—almost—derived from designers Meixner, Cockerell, and Landgraf. Unfortunately, their bike endeavours were brief-lived, lasting just four years from 1921 and 1925. Some years later, there has been an try and resurrect the the front-engined concept, with the Killinger and Freund. However that’s any other story.
